Some personal computer DVD drives will not likely perform mini-DVD format discs, so the only way you can do this is by connecting the camera to the Laptop with a lead (USB / Firewire) and using the playback button, capturing the consequence into a ideal film modifying plan. Bear in head that not many personal computers have a Firewire IEEE1394 port, but several laptops do.
Otherwise you could try finalising the mini DVD and load it up on your Personal computer – but modifying it requires ‘ripping’ the DVD from the disc using a program like DVDRip, and then utilizing a movie editing software which can manage MPEG-2 to edit the really big resulting file. All a bit messy unfortunately!

You have to capture the video into the computer. How you do that depends on the ports you have on the camera and the computer. They have to be compatible. As was mentioned it is usually a firewire or on some cameras a usb. It could also be an analog video and audio signal. Do you know what kind of port you have for capturing video into your computer? And what the output port on the camera is? If you can email me with that info I might be able to assist you further. The camera manual should have the info and possibly a diagram to show you how to connect it to the computer. Good Luck
Try it this way
Use a programme called VideoStudio – you take the mini-disc out of your camcorder and put it into the DVD tray of your PC making sure it sits centrally in the little depression made for it. You may have to ‘finalise’ the mini DVD your camera manual will tell you how to do that – you should note though that once you have finalised a disc you will not be able to use it again or add further videos to it.
Inside VideoStudio you select “Insert DVD/DVD-VR” and point the programme at the DVD and follow the prompts and the video is copied from the disc into the timeline of VideoStudio so that you can edit it – add lots of different videos together cut out bits you don’t want – add titles/music/narration – If you wish you can then output a file to e-mail or upload to Youtube etc. – and finally burn to a full size DVD to play in a standard player.
