Issue by Kelly L: Is it possible for me to cook a turkey for Thanksgiving in an oven without a gauge?
I´m preparing a massive Thanksgiving dinner. I´ve completed it before but only with an oven that has genuine quantities on it. This one just has different sized flames. If I just set it on the max temperature, should I be capable to observe it carefully and consider it out before it will get burned?

That does not sound like a good idea. Why not just boil the turkey? It will come out Ok and you will be able to eat it. If you burn it up in the oven, you will not be able to eat it. I would just boil it. Good Luck.

Go to the store and buy a thermometer …don’t take a chance and this way you will know for sure.Do not boil it….unless you want soup ! You want to roast it.

I can’t imagine that you’ll be able to cook the turkey properly if you don’t know what temperture it is inside the oven. I have another idea for you…an electric roaster. You can get a really big one at Walmart for about $ 20, and then you’ll have reassurance that your turkey will be cooked well. Also, a roaster will cook the turkey a little faster…about 12 minutes per pound in the roaster rather than 15 minutes per pound in the oven.

If you get a Butterball turkey with the pop-up timer, it will let you know when it’s done. You can also find cooking guides for various sizes of turkeys. I wouldn’t put your over on the max temperature, Turkeys need to be cooked slowly so the outside doesn’t get too dark before the inside gets done.
